Properties:

Vitamin D3 is also called the sunshine vitamin, since the human body manages to synthesize it in the skin upon its contact with the sun's rays.
A daily exposure of 10-15 minutes is sufficient for synthesis, during which time the vitamin produced under the effect of sunlight can cover up to 80% of the daily requirement. In order to provide the body with a sufficiently high dose of vitamin D, there is no need for prolonged exposure to the sun.
A few hours of sunbathing during summer vacation does not increase the amount of vitamin D in the skin. Despite the fact that our body absorbs vitamin D under the influence of sunlight, the resources obtained in this way are rapidly depleted.
Recent studies have shown that vitamin D3 deficiency is correlated with the development of certain diseases and is seen as a risk factor for their occurrence, namely autoimmune diseases, metabolic diseases, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, diabetes of the first and second degree.
Vitamin D deficiency also increases the risk of autoimmune substrate conditions, i.e. those conditions in which the immune system turns against the body's cells.
Moreover, it plays an indispensable role in the process of bone mineralization. Vitamin D deficiency limits calcium absorption, even when our diet provides sufficient amounts of this mineral.
The effects of vitamin D deficiency are dangerous for young children (risk of rickets), whose bone system is developing, but also for elderly people (risk of osteoporosis), who are over 65 years old and whose calcium absorption capacity in the digestive tract is low and skin synthesis of vitamin D is insufficient.
