Mitex Otic Solution - is indicated in otitis externa caused by fungi, bacteria and parasites in dogs and cats.
Composition:
1 g Mitex otic solution contains:
· Miconazole nitrate
· Prednisolone acetate
· Polymyxin B sulfate
all in a suspension with Benzylbenzoate
Properties and effectiveness:
Miconazole is a synthetic imidazole derivative with pronounced antifungal effect and strong activity against Gram-positive bacteria.
Polymyxin B sulfate is an antibiotic with a bactericidal effect against Gram-negative bacteria.
The action of polymyxin B sulfate has a synergistic effect when used together with miconazole.
Polymyxin B sulfate increases cell permeability by binding to the cell membrane. The combination exerts an increased activity against bacteria and fungi that are less sensitive to miconazole. Prednisolone is added for its anti-inflammatory properties. Benzylbenzoate controls auricular mange and is recommended for treating areas with demodectic mange in dogs
Indications: Mitex is indicated in otitis externa caused by fungi, bacteria and parasites in dogs and cats.
Dosage and administration:
· Shake the bottle well before use.
· Grab the hair that surrounds or covers the lesions before application.
Otitis externa: Apply 3-5 drops in the ear 2 times/day and massage gently to ensure equal distribution.
Continue the treatment without interruption for several days after the clinical signs have completely disappeared.
In chronic cases, it may be necessary to continue the treatment for 2 or 3 weeks.
Storage: Below 25 C protected from light.
